Columbus’s voyages to the Americas brought together people of very different cultures. As small-group leaders, our time is spent bringing people together to deepen their faith and help them experience biblical community. And just like Columbus’s exploration, there are challenges along the way, and it can be easy to get off course. But of greater importance is how life-changing it can be to see people with differences come together and live life in community because of the power of the gospel. As we celebrate Columbus Day today, use one or more of these questions at your next small-group gathering.
1. If you could explore any part of the world, where would it be and why?
2. What is something you’ve discovered about yourself or your faith in the past year?
3. To commemorate Christopher Columbus’ Italian heritage, what is your favorite Italian food?
